Terminology: creating and publishing

Publications

The name under which issues will be displayed. Your current and future issues (or versions) of this document will play under this name. Publications hold settings that apply to all issues within it. All publications are stored within a publication group.

For example, Staff Bulletin would be a publication and Issue 1 would be an issue that sits within. 

The folder name for your publication forms part of the web address for your document, e.g. view.pagetiger.com/PublicationName/IssueName.

Issues

All issues are stored within a publication.

For example, Issue 1, Issue 2 and Issue 3 would be the names three issues within a publication.

Publication Groups

Folders in which publications are organised. By default, there is only one publication group in your account. You can create groups at any time and move publications into them later. Groups have no impact on the publication’s web address. Examples of publication groups could be 2018 Publications, Marketing Publications or Employment Offer Packs. You can search by Publication Group.

Designs

A document created and edited in TigerDesigner for use with one issue. Designs form the pages of the issue and do not contain interactive features.

Editable Templates

A document created in TigerDesigner used as a blueprint for future designs. Templates can be used to create more documents with certain elements being locked down to prevent unwanted editing. Templates will copy interactive content from their original, however, this interactivity will need to be edited.

There are two categories of editable template available; Editable Templates which are public (available to all PageTiger users) and My Editable Templates which belong to your account.

Published

When an issue is published, it is live and available to your readership.

Interactivity

Interactive features that animate based on the reader’s interaction. Interactivity can be used to fulfil a number of jobs that a vanilla page-turning PDF file can’t achieve.

Modules

Interactive functions are carried out by modules. Modules are added using the interactivity editor and placed on top of the pages. When the issue is loaded, the reader sees clickable and/or animated areas with which they can interact.

Styles

Styles are pre-configured appearance settings that can be applied to a publication. Examples of these settings may include toolbar colour, zoom magnification or background settings.

Tags

Categories that can be associated with a publication. By default, an account will have no tags in it. These must be added as required. You can search using the Tags applied to your publications.

Security rules

Rules that manage how your publication can be accessed by readers.

Menus

Custom toolbar's that you can create to link together a suite of publications and sites or aid navigation.
